[ Set up ]

Setting up your new switch

Step 1: identify your light switch

Identify the light switch you want to customize and pull the faceplate from the corners to remove.

Step 2: pull the blue tab

Pull the blue tab at the top of the switch toward you.

Step 3: remove the switch

The switch will pop out. Remove and set aside.

Step 4: plug in your switch

Plug in your Deako switch and push in the blue tab.

Step 5: replace the faceplate

Replace the faceplate and voila! You’ve installed a Deako switch!

Pairing your Smart Switch with the app

Are you installing a group of switches to control one light?

If you are, we need to link those switches before pairing them with the app. This video will walk you through the process. Once you’re done, skip to step 3 below.

Step 1: download the app

Download the Deako app from the App Store or Play Store.

Step 2: install your switches

Install your Smart Switch by plugging it in to your desired location.

When you’re naming your lights, make sure you have a system that you and other members of your household will easily understand. It can be helpful to be specific and use terms like “kitchen cans,” “kitchen sink,” or “island pendants” rather than using “light” for each area. This is particularly important if you go on to integrate your Deako smart products with a voice assistant.

Linking two Smart Switches together in a multi-way

Now we’re going to go through linking groups of switches together. It’s easier than it sounds, I promise! Make sure you have your switches ready to go and let’s get started.

Hold the phone!

If you’d like to use Smart Dimmers, make sure that you have 1 Master Smart Dimmer and Remote Smart Dimmers. For example, a light with 3 switches controlling it will need 2 Remote Smart Dimmers and 1 Master Smart Dimmer. Check out this video for more info.

Step 1: identify your switches

Identify the switches in the set that you’re upgrading.

Step 2: find the powered switch

Find the power switch by plugging your Smart Switch into a backplate and watching for Configure button to flash green. If it doesn’t flash green, no worries – just move on to the next backplate.

Step 3: press & hold the Configure button

Once it stops flashing green, press and hold Configure button until it starts flashing purple.

Your configure button may be blue.

Step 4: rinse & repeat

Follow the same steps at each backplate until you reach the last switch. Once all the switches are flashing purple, press and hold the Configure button on any switch until it starts flashing white.
I’ll go through the linking process for about 45 seconds, then you’ll be good to go!
